Tapestry
Anjou was a historical province of France with its capital being Angers bordering and straddling the Loire Valley. This was an Important stronghold for France. During the 14th-15th centuries, Dukes of Anjou held court in Angers. The historical castle of Angers, is one of the biggest tourist attraction in the city for obvious reasons. Being a large medieval fortress, in contrast to other Loire-valley castles, it was built with majority black slate and limestone built in the 9th and the early 13th centuries. The castle stretches 500 metres and is punctuated by 17 massive towers that overlook the Maine river. Inside sits the chatelet where past dukes and gouvernors lived and stayed. An outstanding museum to which the Apocalypse Tapestries that would alone bring much attraction to, belong, is also included in the visit to the castle. Measuring 106 metres in length it depicts 67 scenes from Saint John's vision of the Apocalypse, all of them in an outstanding state of conservation. Over 171,400 tourists visit the great monument per year for good reason. Stepping over the draw bridges and gazing at beautiful arangements of flowers in the gardens beneath, what isn't to like?
